The 2012 Smallmouth Slam will be held on August 18th and starts at 8am. You can start showing up at 6:45am but the "gate" will not open to let the first 10 cars in until 7am so do not be there early as we will not be set-up to receive anglers. THe way the launch is set - up we will only let in 10 cars at a time. They will quickly unload kayaks/gear and then drive to the shuttle site/finish area, this is where you will float down to and the scoring, etc. will take place. The SHuttle will then take those ten back to the launch site and so on..there will be more than one van to shuttle. Everyone will start at the same time as we will get everyone in the river and sound the horn to begin fishing (this will be coverd at the Captains Meeting the morning of.
The cost will be $40.00 per angler plus a $10 shuttle fee that will be paid directly to the driver of the Van. Signup, captains meeting, and payment will be on location at the Yadkin River the day of the event. Contact Yadkin River Adventures for location info. http://www.yadkinriveradventures.com/ and here is a map with the location of the put in. http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=36.26 ... 8&t=h&z=15 please reply to this post with any questions.

Quick reminders:
Smallmouth Slam on Aug. 18th. (Same location as last year so ride with a friend who came last year if you can. You will quickly unload your kayak at the launch then drive your car/truck to the shuttle site where you will pay the shuttle drive 10.00 who will bring you back to your yak.)
Entry Fee is 40.00 cash only which you will pay about mid-way through the drive to the launch site at the NCKFA table (Do not get out of car/staff will come to you and you will sign waiver-pay-get ID for event and continue to launch site)
Scoring is total lenght of 3 Smallmouth. 12, 15, 17 equals 44" total, if you only catch two you only score two, if you catch 30 you count the three largest/longest.
All fish are catch and photo and release. ID and Wrist Band will be given out morning of the event.
Anglers rulers must be approved the morning of or a ruler will be provided for a deposit of 20.00 and the deposit given back once ruler is returned at the end of the event (these are REALLY nice rulers and we need to keep them for a long time to recover the cost...you asked for better rulers and you have them. THese will work great in either the SIT or SOT kayaks ).
Awards will be given for 1st,2nd and 3rd....I am working with All About Awards (Dan ) 336-285-9075 (Shamless plug) and will be getting plaques for all three places.
THE WINNER'S First Place kayak...A JACKSON COOSA!
There will be prizes for 2nd and 3rd too..much smaller but prizes non the less!
You will need to bring your USB cable to whatever device you use to take the pic's of the fish with, no cable = no scoring fish. NCKFA will not look at phones or camera!
Entire fish and ID must be in photo (just like online event so if you are a newbie look at those and this will be gone over at Captains Meeting before event starts.
FLoat is about 5 hours depending on river speed and how fast you fish.
There is a chance of rain so bring your rain gear.
You must have your PFD on at all times!
When you arrive park on the right hand side of the road, there is plenty of room. Gates will open at 7am sharp and we will let 10 cars in at a time to unload quickly and then drive to shuttle site. NCKFA Staff will be there early so if you see cars or people going in "early" that is who they are. EVERYONE WILL START AT THE SAME TIME.
See you in the morning.

Just got this from the outfitter, thought I would share>
The best place to eat is:
Rockford General Store (Cross the bridge, One mile on the left across from Yadkin River Adventures)
The best Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Thick cut Bologna Sandwiches, Fries, Ice cream, Milk Shakes, and more.
Thanks,
Paul

I have had the Milk Shakes...mmmmm!
