The Charlotte location of Great Outdoor Provision Company is hosting a Kayak Fishing Meet & Fish on Saturday, May 19 from 7am until 4pm at "Bobby's" launch on Lake Wylie. For those of you who are familiar with the Hardcore Kayak Fishing Invitational, this is the same launch as the tournament. Link to the Google map is below:

The primary focus of the event is to just get together and fish. We'll spend about an hour at the launch at the beginning of the day comparing rigs, equipment, etc and to answer any questions you may have about kayak fishing. I will likely have a Hobie Pro Angler there as well so those of you who are competing for the NCKFA Angler of the Year can see the grand prize.

You can register for the event by emailing me at cltkayaker@gmail.com that way I'll have an idea of how many people are attending. The event is free, with the exception of the $2 launch fee per person to launch your kayak/canoe.

Update on the Meet & Fish.

Plan on meeting at 7am at Bobby's. (don't forget your $2 for the launch fee). We'll hang out for about an hour rigging up our kayaks and sharing notes on boats and gear.

We'll launch at 8am and fish until noon. At noon, a small lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, and baked beans will be served back at the boat ramp. After lunch we'll head back out to fish for a a few more hours. I need to be off the water at 4pm, but if anyone wants to fish longer you can.

We have a few demo fishing kayaks if anyone is looking to try something new/different. We have the following: Hobie Mirage Pro Angler, Jackson Cuda, Jackson Big Tuna, WS Ride 115, Feel Free Moken 10. If you wish to try one of these boats, please let me know so I can plan on bringing it.

Also, bring your digital camera (and USB cable). I'm trying to line something up to give an award for big fish even though this isn't a tournament.

One more update/clarification.

The demo portion of the event will take place during/after lunch unless you make prior arrangements with me. I want everyone who's interested in a boat to have the chance to paddle it. If you are the only one who shows up and has asked to try a particular boat then you may be lucky enough to use it all day.

Gwen....sounds like a really fun event and wish that I was up there this weekend, but.....not until June!!
