Hey All,
Had a great time at my first tournament and done great for a fist timer,I tied for 29 place it looks like,Might have done a little better if i caught a fish though.Loved meeting everyone and getting to know how everthing works.I do have a few words of advise for the newbys now that im a ol pro at this, first you gotta get there.I left home at 5 which acording to my directions it should take me bout a little over a hour to get there.....WRONG! headed up 40 to 421 to 601 and stoped at bojangles for breakfast bout 545 and asked the lady which way to the river and she pointed right and if you go right far enough you do run into the yadkin river,I did about 7 which would have been perfect only i was on the wrong end of 601,about an hour later i was in the right place and ready to go.No fault to the orginizers i just cant follow directions,i know that because i was the only one!
I had several that wanted to know how the ol yellowjacket cuda did in the river and i have to say it was pretty impresive considering that was not what it was intended for,I just had to look a little farther down river than i would have in a 10 footer and plan my moves a little more, seem like in a 10 footer you just kinda react a little quicker but not a lot.I didnt drag bottom anymore than anyone else and less than some in the shallow stuff and never wanted it to turn any quicker than what it would do.I mostly troll for crappies on big lakes.Only drawback was the fact that this boat is a little heavy 74lbs which make it a little tough gettin it in and out but it aint too bad!
Overall its the most comfortable, fishable, easyiest paddlin kayak ive been in during my 45 years of paddlin,Thanks Jackson!
