Okay, I tried this at the Battle in the Boro for the whole 43 mintues I got to between answering phone calls and putting out fires...tough running and fishing in the same event, I would not recommend it.
Got on the water early and saw lots of nice Carp in the shallows...they only need a spot on the tail and a little brackish water and they might get the respect they deserve!
After spooking about half a dozen I finally settled down and got the fly and the moving Carp both in the same place at the same time...wham!!!
For anyone who has not tried this it really is great pratice for the Fort fIsher area on anywhere Reds are target. I really think Carp may be more difficult to catch on the fly ( I know I will hear about that comment ) since they are not aggressive feeders like Redfish and since I am 225 miles from the coast I will take any fish that I can sight cast to, runs like a train once hooked and is plentiful in most of the lakes around the triad area.
SO, next time you are looking to get hooked up on a big fish on a fly rod break out the Carp flies and have at them...just make sure to bring a net.

I will be heading to the Fort with Beeyak one day this week (checking weather etc.) Please let me know of any reports today or tomorrow on the Reds as I will be trying for one of them (or two..fingers crossed) on the Fly after the pratice today.

Nice Carp Mark. I do not have much to report on the Reds. Talk to Mulletman. I have been ocean side lately headed back out there in the morning.

Good looking fish Mark. Do you have/know the recipe for that carp fly? Good looking fly. There are plenty of carp on Mountain Island Lake and I'd like to give them a try. Thanks ;)

I have a hard tie tying my shoes....lol. Kaleb can probably help with that. I also use a ant pattern or Wooly Bugger.

That's why I wear slip ons  I kind of get the idea of the fly in your picture. If I can EVER get any time off  , I'll give it a try.
