Hi everyone... I'm new to this group and just got a new kayak. I want to give a shout-out to all the people at the GOPC here in Charlotte, especially Gwen and Sam. They really went out of their way to help me get set up with this kayak. Picked it up last Saturday and called in sick yesterday *cough cough* to spend some time getting it rigged up for fishing. I took some pictures as I was rigging it. I wanted to share with all of you and would love to get your thoughts/ideas... I also look forward to meeting some of you out on the water someday. I live in Charlotte and I'll be looking for new places to put-in and fish.

That's a pretty cool set up you got there. Good job on the rigging. The only thing I could suggest is tightening up the anchor trolley line so it doesn't go under the boat and you have to reach in the water to find it.

Hello Yakbait and CONGRATS on your new W/S kayak!!! Nice "Ride" ya got there!!
And the Thule Xsporter truck rack is really nice too!!

Your rigging is very clean and looks very efficient too....great job!!

I met Rudy and Gwen at GOPC CLT back in January, and the run a good outfitters shop!!
I left some JAX, FL $$$ at their store too....LOL!!

My daughter and SIL and 3 grandkiddos moved to the South Park area of CLT last June so I am up there about every 60 days....please find some good spots for me to catch some fish, since I am "0 for NC" on my last three trips....LOL!!!

Thanks for the comments guys...

@wookie... After the maiden voyage, I may end up tightening the trolley line like you suggested. When I was putting it on, I was afraid that I was putting on too tight as it was. I left a little bit of extra rope to do just that... it's easier to tighten the rope than it is to loosen it. I figure I'll be "tweaking" on this kayak for years to come.

@JohnYaksJax...I'll see what kind of kayak fishing I can get into around here in Charlotte and let you know... and YES, this boat will NOT be a stranger to saltwater. I usually fish the NC coast, but I've have been wanting to hit mosquito lagoon for several years now which is down around your way.

@Fireyakker... thanks dude... I think I'm going to be really pleased with this yak.

I agree, with mine once it got wet and the stick pin pulled on it a little the rope stretched out and I found myself in an awkward position trying to get it out from under my boat, which in an Ultimate is a little tough because it had gone up under the pontoon. That was about the only time I was a little nervous about tipping over as I tried to reach for it.

Welcome to the group. You've got a great looking 'yak. I'm thinking of adding the same type of boat to the plastic armada myself.

I'm also amazed at how tidy your garage is.

Yakbait,

Looks to me like you've pretty well got all the angles covered on rigging.

Welcome to the site. A lot of great info here.

And by the way, that garage is indicative of a very sick mind!

Thanks guys....

And btw...the tidiness of the garage is only a small indication of how twisted and demented I actually am. :D
