I just bought a used Native Ultimate 12 and am in process of setting it up for fishing. I did a guided fishing trip with Nathan Raycroft early this year and was sold on the Ultimate. I like it's stability and security of being a sit-in.

The same thing happened to me. I went on a guided trip with Nathan last year on Memorial Day and it sold me on the Ultimate, only I got the 14.5T. Let me know if you are ever down around the Swansboro area, as that's where I fish mainly.

Hello my name is John and I became a member of NCKFA back in Aug of 2010, however due to military committments I have been out of my Kayak and the forum for over a year and half. I live in the Fayetteville area and fish the local lakes, ponds and Cape Fear. Tried my first Fort Fisher outing last weekend and loved it. I have two daughters and my 12 year old is hooked just like me. Hoping to be more active in the forum and seeing fellow kayakers on the water. If you see a bald, brown skin fella in a red WS Ride 13.5, paddle on by and say hello.

Stay safe!

Good Evening, my name is Jim, been a member for about 10 mins :D

Retired from the Air Force in 2000 and have been in my second career since living in the charlotte area. Wife is Sonia who is a retired EMT from Nashville. She spent 15 years at the original Grand Old Opry and can tell you all the stories. She was injured on the job and now ensures our life is in order. Along the way, i've enjoyed Retriever Training and lots of bird hunting while in Nebraska, Wyoming and California, not much hunting since i put ole Duke down. I got the kayak bug last year after visiting Fort Fisher, went back n forth trying to find the perfect kayak for me....come to find out they are all good. Saw a posting on another site and bought two kayaks (Tarpon 140 and Heritage Redfish 14, and a trailer to transport) so they kinda found me. I've answered several inquires of folks wanting to go out and took them up on the offer and have enjoyed my trips down the Yadkin, Nevin's creek, and about to head out to Ashville. I really can't wait to get out to our upcoming vacation in Bath, NC. ANYONE with any advise pls let me know. I to enjoy Snooker and played a lot when i was stationed in England, have a trophy where i beat some local englishmen--don't think they were happy! Biggest snooker run at the time was 55, long time ago.

I've been really pleased with the folks i've run into from the NCAngler site and look forward to many from here and the adivse is always spot on. My wife loves to go out with me, however when she doesn't there is a an extra rig here available if you want to make a trip etc. I just need a reason.

take care drop me a line

Jim

I started on this forum at the urging of a friend and then sat thru brigadoon's excellent presentation at our local Trout Unlimited Chapter; and I have several customers who have been getting into kayak fishing.

I started fishing as a teenager, about 50 years ago, and got real interested in fly fishing. After graduating from WCU in Biology, I spent the next 20 years in the Coast Guard and retired. Worked for the Boy Scouts for 3 years and then got into outdoor retail. Then, after a lapse in judgment, I opened Carolina Mountain Sports in Statesville...and specialize in Fly Fishing and Fly Tying, Backpacking, Canoes and yes, even a few kayaks.

Most weekends from Oct-May I am wading for "sweetwater" trout in the mountains; from June thru Sept, I can usually be found floating the New River in the mountains for smallies, in my 15'6" Bell Yellowstone solo canoe (I confess to a passion for a well-built canoe). I try to get to the coast a few times each year, especially in fall, to chase False Albacore with the fly rod. But I also own a kayak or two and it looks like I need to add a dedicated fishing yak to the inventory.

Enjoying the forum and hope to participate in the Oak Is. Classic and meet a few of you there!

Hello all, I'm Matt, last year my wife won a $250 Pro Bass shop scratch off. She said, Rats! this isn't the card I wanted, so I said, No worries dear, I'll take care of that for you. That's when I started Kayak fishing! Glad I stumbled onto you guys, need some pointers, sometimes the gators sit and watch from a distance and sometimes is seems as they want to get up and personal. We have two grown yutes (NYawker), one in Wilmington NC, whom is an Eagle Scout and one in Va. Been through 20 yrs baseball coaching and 30+ yrs Boy Scouts. Am a Aquaponicer and in search of alternate energy's. Just like being out on the water and fishing in a kayak, way up in those hard for anyone else to reach places but have a hankering to get out past the breakers. Planning on attending the April 3 mtg. Question: is there a secret handshake I'll need to know for the mtg? 8>D
