We will have our winter/spring meeting at Bay River Campground on March 10th. We will have a guest speaker on Kayak Fishing the Eastern Marshes and Flats!! The speaker will be JDHD has a kayak guide service in the areas around Slocum Creek, he also guides around the Haystacks and Carrott Island . His guiding service is called TCCKA (Taylor Crystal Coast kayak Adventures). This young man can really put the fish in the yak!! We will also have some of the Flinger members tie Shad ,Spec Trout flies . Time is getting close to fresh water fishing as well. If there is a fly you would like to see just let me know and we will try to demo the tie.

In March of 09 I caught my largest Trout to date . It was caught not far from the campground ! There should be time to fish for trout before the meeting part of the program. There will be Sausage Dogs and Chilli after the meeting and as usual no charges .... please come on down (you don't have to be a member ). If you just want to learn more about fly fishing and kayaking , this will be a great start!!

Funny, The Crystal Coast Chapter of Heroes on the Water is planning an outing on the Neuse River on Saturday March 10th. We were planning on launching at Cahooque Creek in Havelock but can easily cross the river and join you. What do you say we join you for your outing?

Great! I can let you know. Is this "group" members of the NCKFA Coastal Chapter? or is this another group?

Have you seen the post on the Plunder of the Pamlico tournament? http://www.theplunderofthepamlico.com/

How many people to you expect at this event?

Have not seen this! Nice looking tourny !I started this group on NC Angler and I am a newbie on this site.If I posted in the wrong place please forgive me ! We are looking at 18 to 21 attending. Not sure of solid numbers yet. You are welcomed to come on down! I will have my laptop and be happy to point out some hot spots! I need to tell you that the schedule will be changed. JDHD ON NC Angler is the speaker and he needs to speak at lunch time. We are planning on fishing morning and after lunch till dusk. We then plan fellowship, compare catches ,fly tie .

Tackle... If your group does not fly fish that is not a problem. Spinning gear I would use a 6 1/2 ft rod balanced for 8 lbs line. Lures....I like MR 14 & 17's . 808,EC also Rapalas Ultra Minnow Clown color.Gulp works well too. White 3 " shrimp, New Penny 3 " shrimp sometimes combined with popping corks. My wife loves 2" white Gulp shrimp in 1/8 oz jig head. We troll the baits till we have a couple of trout and then fly cast. I will be near my cell phone and will be Shad fishing, give me a hollar if you have any questions!!

Good to see you on this site Allen. I have been planning to come up Sat, but now it looks like we may have company for the weekend, not sure yet. If I don't make it Sat hope you all have a great time and I will make another trip up that way later.
